Princesses

There is a family in my church with three beautiful girls (and two adorable boys!). The middle girl, Maya, is kind of my adopted little sister. She has modeled some of my sewing creations over the past years:

This year, as my church's annual Reformation Dance drew near, I came up with the idea that my sisters and I should make princess dresses for Maya and her two sisters, Ammi and Emma. The girls were consulted, and we received requests for two Sleeping Beauty dresses (one pink and one blue) and a Rapunzel dress from "Tangled". It was such a fun project! I made the blue dress for Maya. I really enjoyed getting to re-create the dress from the movie! And I loved searching the fabric stores to find just the right fabric. Here are the three princesses:

Anna put her own twist on the pink Aurora dress. You can't really tell from the picture, but the overlay on the skirt is glittery gold netting. So pretty! And I love how the Rapunzel dress turned out - the ribbon on the front and sleeves was perfect, Sarah!

Such darlings!! The best part was how much they loved their dresses!

Sharing Life

Last year, I got to help plan a wedding shower for my good friend Sarah, and then be a bridesmaid in her wedding.

This year, I got to help plan a baby shower for her adorable little boy.

I saw on Pinterest (where else?) that you could make clouds from stuffing and hang them from the ceiling. What a cute idea! So, I made lots of clouds.

I looped clear thread through them so it would really look like they were floating.

Decorating!!

We're getting pretty good at this! I think we should start a business. ;-)

I found some adorable elephant fleece at Walmart that I just couldn't pass up. I had so much fun making this outfit!

I used this free pattern for the pants and this one for the shirt. I had to adjust the sizing a little on the shirt because it seemed way too small even for a newborn, but it came out well!

I cut out elephants from the blue fleece and stitched them onto the arms and one leg.

He's so cute!! It's so fun to have a friend with a baby! :-)

*That* Blogger

Well, it's been a while. I tend to get impatient and annoyed with blogs I follow when their writers don't post regularly, and here I am, not posting regularly. :-P When I started this blog, my goal was to post twice a week, but it's been over two weeks since my last post. Yes, I am a hypocritical blogger. Or maybe I am just learning to be more understanding: life gets in the way! Seriously, don't ask me what I've been up to lately unless you want a really long answer.

Of course, just because I haven't been posting doesn't mean I haven't been sewing! No matter how busy I am, I always manage to find time for that! And actually, a lot of my busyness right now is sewing! I finished this fun top yesterday:

I've wanted something like this for a long time, and I had just enough sheet (yes, it was a sheet) left over from a dress I made this summer. I have found a couple of knit sheets at thrift stores, and I just can't pass them up. Knit material is expensive, so when I can get it for cheap in the form of a sheet, I do!

This cool silver belt was another thrift store find: 25 cents at my favorite thrift store. It just might be my favorite thrift store because it has belts - and fabric - for 25 cents.

Another thing that has been keeping me busy is my sewing class! I got the opportunity to teach a sewing class this semester down in Branson. It has been a fun adventure! Our one hour class goes by so fast, but we are getting things done! There are five girls in the class (two of them weren't there when I took this picture). They keep me smiling!

I love it when people get excited about sewing!

Well, that's all for now. I have a lot of projects in the works, so expect several posts in the next few weeks! But I'm not making any promises, because, you know: life. ;-)
