Havin' Fun

Lots of stuff has been happening this summer! Lots in general, but also lots in relation to sewing. I sent in a form requesting a booth at a craft fair in August. My dad heard about it and thought I should try selling some things there. I'm so excited! It will be the first craft fair I have ever been a part of. I have a lot of things to prepare in the weeks ahead. I want to have several small, cheap things for people to buy, things like pencil pouches and jean bracelets. I have plans for about 60 bracelets. I am over half way there!

My mom gave me another idea when she bought this cute little velcro phone case. I can make those!

I have 30 cut out and the velcro sewn on. That was a good two days' work!

It is fun to work with so many different colors and kinds of fabric! It is also really fun to get to use all those scraps and pieces of fabric that I have saved throughout the years. I knew I would need them sometime!!

I also ordered business cards so that I will have them to hand out at the craft fair. Of course, that meant I had to develop a logo. It took a long time, but here is what I came up with:

I love it!! And here is my business card, perfected with lots of help from my dad:

Fun stuff!! I'm going to be sewing like crazy these next few weeks. I'll be sure to keep you posted on all my preparations!

Past Loves

For years now, I have loved 1950's fashion. It was some magazines of my great-grandma's that really introduced me to that era and inspired me to make some historical dresses to sell. That was a fun project! Then, a friend asked me to help her make a 1920's dress and I thought that sounded like so much fun and the style was so cute that I just had to make one right away! So I made a board on Pinterest and pulled out some fabric and whipped off a dress. Since I now had three historical dresses to sell, plus one other dress that I had made a long time ago and never gotten around to selling, I asked my gorgeous sister if she would model them for me! Here are some of the pictures from our shoot:

1920's flapper dress

1950's dress made to look like a dress in an old magazine

Non-historical dress made from some cool fabric my aunt gave me

1950's style sundress

Isn't she so cute??

These dresses are now all for sale on eBay!

Let's Celebrate!

I have been blogging for 3 years now. It's hard to believe that it has been that long! I have really enjoyed being a part of the blogging world and sharing some of my life with you. And now here I am, writing my 100th blog post. I think this calls for a celebration, don't you? And just in time for Independence Day!

But it's no fun to celebrate alone, so I am going to give you the chance to win some free stuff! The list below tells you how you can get your name in the drawing. Each action equals one entry.

1) Comment on this post or any post here on my blog
2) Like my page on facebook
3) Like/share this post on facebook (one entry for each)
4) Follow me on Pinterest
5) Like/pin one of the pins on the "My Sewing Projects" board (up to two likes and two pins per person)

That's a lot of ways to enter! Now, you're probably wondering what you can win. That's the best part! There will actually be three winners, and I am going to give each of you several options. You can choose from the things pictured below or you can request any small item to be custom made for you! I reserve the right to determine what "small" means, but there are a lot of options within that category. It could even be a simple alteration or mending job.

You have one week to get all your entries in! I am excited to see who wins and what you choose!
